Hands-on service that helps families meet their most basic needs.

Warehouse volunteers support our daily operations by sorting, inventorying, and shelving donated items, assisting with bulk and mobile orders, and helping load vans for distribution to partner agencies and community sites.

INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEERS

Make an Impact—One Shift at a Time

Whether you’re coming solo, with your family, or alongside friends, individual volunteers play a vital role in keeping our warehouse moving.

What you’ll do:

  • Sort and inventory donated baby and hygiene items

  • Wrap and bundle diapers for distribution

  • Prepare essential supplies for partner agencies

Good to know:

  • Open to volunteers ages 8 and up

  • Family-friendly and youth-group friendly

  • No prior experience needed

Group size:
Planning to volunteer with a group of six or more? Advance scheduling is required. We’ll work with you to reserve a private time slot and provide a group-specific registration link.

COURT-MANDATED COMMUNITY SERVICE

Court-Mandated Service Hours

Helping Mamas offers a limited number of community service opportunities for individuals who need to complete court-mandated volunteer hours.

Please note:

  • All court-mandated volunteers must receive approval prior to scheduling

  • Hours must be completed during approved shifts

  • Documentation will be provided upon completion

Volunteer FAQ's

  • Volunteers at our warehouse have to be 8 years of age and up. To volunteer at a mobile distribution event, volunteers must be 13 years of age and up.

  • Aside from the occasional mobile distribution event, which are always posted to Hands On Atlanta - Helping Mamas hosts one weekend opportunity a month. They take place every second Saturday from 9am-11am.

  • Volunteers are encouraged to dress comfortably and according to the weather as our warehouse is not climate controlled. We also encourage volunteers to wear closed toed shoes.

  • Yes! Our front entrance is wheelchair accessible. 

  • Volunteers can expect to assist with sorting, counting, and inventorying donations into our warehouse. You can expect to work with diapers, clothes, formula, feminine hygiene products and all essential items in between. Volunteers can also assist with warehouse tasks such as loading and unloading orders or palletizing goods.

  • Any court-mandated hours completed with Helping Mamas will need to be verified through our community partner Hands On Atlanta. Click here for more details and other opportunities in the greater Atlanta area.  

  • Yes! Helping Mamas welcomes groups from 5 volunteers to 100 volunteers. If your group has more than 30 volunteers, we can split them into two shifts as we have a morning shift and an afternoon shift.

  • Helping Mamas’s morning shift starts at 10am and the afternoon shift starts at 1pm. Please arrive 5 minutes prior to start time so all volunteers can be present and seated for the volunteer orientation that takes place at the start of every shift.

  • Yes, Helping Mamas is located in an office park and there is ample free parking for all volunteers who come to serve with us.

  • When you park, look for the entrance marked for volunteers. Volunteers will check in via our volunteer kiosk and the shift will begin.
